REHABILITATION ENGINEERING:
THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A PROSTHETIC DEVICE FOR A POWER LIMB AMPUTEE USING A 4-BAR LINK MECHANISM

ABSTRACT
A – 4 bar link mechanism is utilized in the design and manufacture of an artificial lower limb for an amputee. The prosthetic device is produced with aluminum, plastic, and steel materials. The interior part of the mechanism is covered with polymer materials thereby improving the aesthetics of the product which gives the user greater confidence and satisfaction. The device is tested and found operational. The cost of he artificial limb is N12000, which is considerably cheap when compared with the imported that sell for above N20,000.
