Public sector downsizing is one major variable that characterize the market – driven global economic programme. Expedited by the US and World Trade Organization (WTO) and being made a qualifying clause for participation in global transaction, developing nation especially Nigeria is applying it ‘willingly’ with unsavory consequences. The author examined the issues with a ‘pinch of salt’ – labour redundancy to a labour intensive economy is definitely uncomplimentary.
