Our views

The Transcampus Interdisciplinary Research and Study Group is the intellectual outreach of the firm – Economic Instructors (Nigeria) Ltd. The organization is planned to comprise individuals who have demonstrated a proven commitment of the intellectual and operates on the philosophy of collaborative academic activity.
It was Professor Claude Ake; pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and Founding Director-General of the Centre for Advanced Social Science. CASS, Port Harcourt, who popularized the opinion that scholarship is a collective enterprise. The TIRSG subscribes to this notion. Accordingly, the group makes deliberate effort to discontinue with the tradition in which academics pursue their mission with insufficient attention to interdisciplinary interaction.
The aim of the Group is to ensure an increasing tempo of hard core research that will contribute to the general forward movement of Nigeria, first; Africa, second; the developing world, next; and finally everybody else. The specific objectives of the Transcampus Interdisciplinary Research and Study Group are to
  • Promote developmental research activities
  • Assist in national capacity building
  • Provide a forum for intellectual cross-fertilization of ideas
  • Generate a flow of problematic issues worthy of research attention; and
  • Increase an understanding of research and development problems prevailing in Nigeria and Africa, at large

Pursuant to these objectives, the Group will organize seminars, symposia, public lectures, workshops, conferences, meetings and policy briefings. The Group also publishes the Journal of Research in National Development, a multidisciplinary, refereed publication.
